Fred Mossler
No Title
Fred was born in San Francisco, California, and was raised in a small town, just north of the city, near the
wine country. After graduating high school, he moved to Oregon, where he attended Southern Oregon University. After college, Fred moved to Seattle, where he began his career with Nordstrom. Over the
course of eight years he rose through the ranks with Nordstrom, living in Sacramento, Hawaii, and then
back in San Francisco. He was in San Francisco when he received the call from Nick Swinmurn and where
he joined shoesite.com in 1999, which would soon be known as Zappos.com.
While he founded the Merchandising Team at Zappos.com his responsibilities have grown beyond the Merchandising department.
Fred's current position of "No Title" enables him to oversee a variety of departments. Although he is still passionate about product and enjoys staying connected with his merchandising roots, his responsibilities now include the Customer Loyalty Team, Human Resources,
Recruiting, Benefits, and Marketing.
Beyond Zappos, his restaurants, and his family, Fred is also focused on the revitalization efforts of
downtown Las Vegas. He, and a few others, took over the monthly art and culture event called “First
Friday.” They built on the already thriving event and enjoy seeing it continue to grow month after
month. He's excited to be involved with the Downtown Project and to be meeting with new and
established business owners. Fred looks forward to the adventures yet to come.
